Robert D. Grant, Special Agent-in-Charge of the Chicago Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) announced today that the FBI is joining in the search for SHERRY HALIGAN, age 47, whose last known address was 1050 South 6th Street in LaGrange, Illinois.

HALLIGAN was charged in a criminal complaint filed yesterday in U.S. District Court in Chicago with one count of Unlawful Flight to Avoid Prosecution, which is a felony offense.  She is now the subject of a nationwide manhunt that is being coordinated by the Chicago FBI's Violent Crimes Task Force (VCTF).

HALLIGAN is wanted by the La Grange Police Department (LGPD) for the January 2003 murder of Dennis Campbell, whom HALLIGAN is alleged to have killed during a domestic dispute.  After being charged with this murder, HALLIGAN was released on bond.  A warrant for her arrest was issued in Cook County Circuit Court in April of 2004, after she failed to appear for a scheduled court appearance.  Shortly thereafter, HALLIGAN's abandoned vehicle was discovered at Chicago's Midway airport.  Subsequent investigation by the LGPD and the Cook County Sheriff's Police have failed to locate HALLIGAN.

HALLIGAN is described as a white/female, 47 years of age, 5'3" tall, 110 pounds, with blonde hair and green eyes.

Anyone having any information as to the current whereabouts of HALLIGAN is asked to call the La Grange Police Department at (708) 579-2333, the Chicago FBI at (312) 431-1333, or their local police department.

* The public is reminded that a complaint is not evidence of guilt and that all defendants in a criminal case are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
